CODE Post-doc Research Fellowships Program

CODE invites applications for 2-year postdoc research fellowships to begin September 1, 2008.

Selection criteria and eligibility:

Candidates must be either within 3 years of completion of their PhD. or graduate students expecting to complete their PhD degree by the beginning of September following the offer of appointment. If this deadline is not met, the Fellowship may be withdrawn.

Candidates are considered against the following criteria:

  • Demonstrable excellence or potential for excellence in research;
  • The fit of the proposed research with CODE lines of research;
  • The potential to consolidate a research line after the Fellowship.

Candidates are expected to show potential to:

  • Develop independent research activities;
  • Produce papers suitable for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Conditions of appointment:

CODE Research Fellows are expected to undertake original work and publish their findings. Fellows may also be invited to take a light teaching load in the teaching program of the Department of Economics. It comprises undergraduate and graduate courses in the Master and Doctoral degrees of the International Doctorate in Economic Analysis (IDEA) program. This teaching load will not exceed 3 hours per week during 14 weeks. Fellows are expected to participate in the academic life of the Department and CODE interacting with other researchers, and participating in the seminars and workshops, both attending and presenting their research.

Salary:

Gross salary in 2008 is 24000 €.

Application procedure:

Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, a representative sample of their work, and a statement of intended research. This statement must be written by the candidates themselves and should set out a clear proposal for research to be undertaken by the candidate during the Fellowship. Also, they must arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent separately.

Short-listed candidates may be invited to attend an interview in December 14-16, 2006 within the Spanish Economic Association Job Market run during the Simposio de Análisis Económico.
