This prize is awarded since 1990, to a researcher with a recognized relationship with Catalonia and with the highest research profile. The aim of the prize is to singularize a researcher whose contributions to the advancement of a scientific discipline have proved to be highly significant.
The Foundation in an official notice has informed that the jury of the XVIII edition of this prize has appointed Salvador Barberà for "his relevant scientific contributions to the study of strategic incentives in collective decision making, as well as by his contribution to the articulation of the Catalan and Spanish system of research".
