Hugo Sonnenschein, doctor Honoris Causa UAB at our department´s proposal and chair of the Barcelona GSE scientific advisory committee, died yesterday July 15, 2021. He was a beloved friend of this department. His strong support to the development of the economics profession in Barcelona was decisive.

Associate professor Raül Santaeulalia will direct a brand new Barcelona GSE Summer School in Development Economics that will feature a networks course by Assistant professor Pau Milán and a course on RCTs by Pam Jakiela (Williams College) and Owen Ozier (World Bank).

Associate professor Antonio Miralles has won the AEJ Best Paper Award in microeconomics for his paper "A Pseudo-Market Approach to Allocation with Priorities" joint with Yinghua He, Marek Pycia, and Jianye Yan.
